Billy comes to us with lived experience of Neurodivergence, and a keen passion for making the world an easier place to live for young people.

What are your hobbies outside of work?
Nothing beats the warmth of spending quality time with my family and friends, whether we’re gathered around a campfire, or embarking on exciting travel adventures together.

On quieter days, you’ll find me snuggled up with a good book, lost in its pages, or indulging in a binge-watching session of my favorite TV series, immersing myself in each episode.

How do you connect with young people?
Connecting with young people involves empathy and understanding. By reflecting on my own experiences at that age, I can relate to the challenges and uncertainties they face. Remembering the mix of excitement and apprehension I felt as a young person helps me empathise with their perspective.

Acknowledging the varying perceptions of the worlds vastness and complexity at different ages allows me to bridge the generational gap and establish meaningful connections with young individuals.

What were you like growing up?

Growing up, I was curious and eager to explore, but I was also quiet and withdrawn until I felt comfortable enough to let my loud and humorous side shine through. I always tried to make people laugh and bring joy to those around me. Finding where I fit in was a challenge, often feeling like I didnt belong. It wasn’t until later, after receiving my diagnosis, that I understood why fitting in was tough. These experiences shaped my journey and taught me valuable lessons about acceptance and self- discovery.
