What are your hobbies outside of working?

A few of my hobbies include creative writing, getting lost in a good book, engaging in a challenging Pilates session and sharing coffee and a sweet treat with a good friend.

How do you connect with young people?

A smile is my favourite way to connect with someone. As an approachable person with a calm demeanour and an easy laugh, I enjoy getting to know people through spending time together. I relate easily with young people, whether they’re six years old or sixteen years old, through being a supportive, kind, and empathetic person in their lives who genuinely wants the best for them.

What were you like growing up?

Growing up as the oldest of four kids, I was a tad bossy and quite responsible. Childhood was a combination of telling my siblings what to do, reading for hours at a time in my room, and putting on dances and shows that I forced my parents (and their friends) to watch. I found it extremely difficult to express my emotions as a child, instead retreating into my books as a way of feeling understood. This experience has enabled me to become a person by whom people can be heard, seen, and understood in a safe and calm space, without expectation or judgement.
